You are special
What has God gifted me to do that I could never stop doing?
How can I help others with this gift?
Can I start this weekend?
How can I do it in secret?

“Work Hard.”
(those are two words we men don’t like to hear eh?!)
This week’s ‘That’s What She Said’ comes from Meaghan Makins, a good friend of mine is married to one of my closest friends…be careful though- you might have to change your life after listening to this girl!
“This could mean a number of things: Get a job. Go to school. Do something with your life. Pursue your dreams. Conquer your struggles and temptations.”
“Sidenote: If you want to get married, this is so key. When Kevin realized he wanted to get married, it was SO attractive to see the way he worked for that to become a reality. His work ethic, in all areas of his life, showed me so clearly that he would provide for me, and I had no doubt in my mind that he would be the most amazing husband.”
She’s right dudes…Kevin completely changed his life in order to marry the woman he loves. She deserves his best, and he’s continually working towards that. Thanks Meg!

Today I have the opportunity to cheat on my wife. I don’t know what to do. Should I take it? Carpe diem right?! It’s not every day that I get a chance like this…
Oh wait…IT IS EVERY DAY THAT I GET A CHANCE LIKE THIS.
Have you noticed that the odds of staying pure are seriously stacked against us? What the heck is up with that?! You work your whole life towards something, and in one moment, it can all get torn down. That’s why I’m convinced that without God, it’s NOT EVEN POSSIBLE to stay pure.
Last night I met with my accountability partner. I got on my knees and he laid his hands on my head and prayed for healing over my mind. I need healing. I need to think right. I need to be the man who stays pure and faithful. Because my wife is worth it. My marriage is worth it. My family, friends, community, ministry, calling, and faith are all worth it. Because nothing is worth losing everything.
Today you have the opportunity to cheat on your wife (or future wife). A chance like this comes along every day. Will you take it? Or will you truly seize the day? — Take the time to let God heal your mind and make you the man He created you to become. Get on your knees. Right now.

I saw an old friend on Sunday night who’s now dating a pretty neat girl. Some months back, he asked her out on a date. She said ‘yes’. But now she admits it… it was a pity date- she knew she’d soon be leaving on a very long mission trip.
But this ole boy didn’t stop. While she was gone, he kept in close communication, but he also did something very interesting: he asked her father if he could date his daughter. Being the great guy that he is, the dad said yes.
When this young lady arrived back home, her parents were fully supportive of this new relationship- she soon realized he was indeed a great guy. They’ve been dating for two months now.
Moral of the story- it’s better to use your brain instead of your…
And it might just get you that great girl.

Guys hate other guys who have a big one.
Girls hate guys with one of any size.

EGO.
Am I right? It’s the worst yeah? I heard a podcast message by my dad at Lincoln Road Chapel, and he was talking about ego. He defined it this way…
“Edging God Out.”
Trying to take back the wheel. Standing up to God, thinking we can do better. Satan had a big ego. I have a big ego. God hates my pride. People hate my pride. Pride will ruin my life. Don’t develop an ego…a sense that I am God. I am not, and will never be. Those who walk humbly receive grace.
Don’t edge God out. Get rid of your ego today.

My grandfather turned 78 years old today. I bought him his favourite food: $5 Little Ceaser Pizza - because its cheap. As we ate, my grandmother asked me a question relating to our discussion on church. “Who was Jesus anyways. Like, what did he do.” You gotta be kidding me, I thought. Thank you Lord.
After I told them about Jesus and his Gospel (this would be probably the 3rd time ever telling them in this length (10 min)…my grandfather usual intrupts me, telling me its all fairytales and Im a fool to beleive it), I asked my grandfather, “do you know what humility is?” “No, they didnt teach me much of that at Stelco” he replied. I jumped in, “Its what you need to accept that God is greater than you and knows more than you. Jesus died for you so that you can go to heaven, have a relationship with a perfect father, and be forgiven of all those stupid things you tell me you did and stupid things your going to do”. For one of the first times in my 22 years of life, he listened. He didnt interrupt. He didn’t make fun of me. He just listened. A sign of humility. God is at work.
So how important is humility and how un-important is ego, arrogance and pride for a dude specifically?
I love the way Andrew Murray puts it: “The root of all sin is pride, thus the root of all virtues is humilty.” - read his book called humility - it will shatter you.
Question for Jay and others, what makes humility so hard to attain for guys? And what are some practical ways we can attain it? Thoughts?
